The entrance to the Hokianga Harbour is said to be guarded by two taniwha.
The North Head is a high sand dune, fun to walk over or to slide down. You can organise a sandboarding adventure from the Hokianga I-site. Ask for more information at our Park Reception
The 'must do' walking track is the Scenic Lookout Walk at the South Head of the Harbour (it is about 1/2 kilometre down the hill on the left hand side as you drive down the hill towards Omapere
